What is Myofascial Release?

Myofascial Release is a very effective hands-on technique that provides sustained pressure into myofascial restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. To understand myofascial release, it is important to know what fascia is.

Fascia is a densely woven connective web which covers and interpenetrates every muscle, bone, nerve, artery and vein as well as all of our internal organs including the heart, lungs, brain and spinal cord. It tends to dehydrate and form restrictions around areas of trauma – accidents, surgery, inflammation, repetitive use injuries, poor posture, emotional bracing. These adhesions and resulting scar tissue remain in the system long after the initial instability is gone and can exert a force of up to 2000 lbs. per sq. in. on surrounding tissues. Nerves are compressed, circulation is restricted, range of motion is impaired, and our bodies are pulled into painful compensations over and over again. Fascial restrictions often go undiagnosed since standard tests do not reveal them. They are not resolved by stretching, chiropractic, traditional physical therapy, or massage - although it works very well alongside all of these modalities. Myofascial release is not meant to replace the important techniques and approaches that you currently utilize, but acts as a very important added dimension in pain relief and restoring function.

Jeanne has this to say about her prices, "It's a priority to me to be financially accessible enough to people that they can afford to see me frequently if they get flared up and can periodically maintain treatment later on. I'm blessed with a low overhead, and as long as I am able to, I'm happy to pass on some of the cheapest advanced-level bodywork in town.
